They’re having an affair. They’re both gaslighting the other about it being an affair. Each said the other was false to read any romantic signs as anything but a work relationship. They’re alone in a hotel room doing improv about their fake marriage inbetween fucking. The improv is done so sincerely there is no way to tell if they’re making things up for the bit or trying to convey truths they can’t say with their real names.
